Nodeki WordPress Managed Hosting

nodeki

It’s hard to come up with creative titles for a growing industry that we want to cover this year – in other words, I believe that managed hosting is going to see a huge growth spike this year as more and more WordPress consultants, theme shops, and independent providers launch their own managed hosting solutions.

And we want to continue to canvas and notify you guys of the new services that launch – but most of them, at this point in time, aren’t doing anything “out of the ordinary” or appear to be doing anything necessarily innovative. That’s not a bad thing – it’s just what it is.

One thing that immediately stood out with Nodeki though is the idea that they have a one-time price idea for some customers. Pay once and never again? Ah.

I suppose this could work if you had a small microsite that you knew would never really scale or have a limited usage for a small amount of time. But I’m having difficultly, honestly, to consider use-cases for the lifetime offer, especially when I could host my own site for much cheaper.

But it might be a growth area for Nodeki that finds a special place among customers – who’s to tell at this point, right?

See anything I’m missing on this one?

Oh, and maybe you’re up for a trial run: They are giving away 25 accounts:

Not sure if it’s still good, but worth a shot.

  1. Hey All,

Thanks for the mention :-) . Allow me to clarify a bit, so as to clear any confusion there may be surrounding the Lifetime plans that we currently offer.

The Lifetime WordPress plans were designed for those with lower traffic levels and resource needs, though that doesn’t mean they’re unable to scale on-demand. While the LT plans stop at 9GB, scalability doesn’t. We’ve have numerous clients move from an LT plan to a monthly plan simply due to growth.

When a client needs to upgrade from an LT plan, we provide them with a credit which goes towards their new monthly plan. The actual credit depends on how long the plan has been active, though if it’s 30-60 days, we provide a 100% credit, so in a way, the LT plans can be used as a testing ground. This is a standard – any client can take advantage of this, which makes it risk free on their end as they have options.

Hosting via an LT plan and hosting on your own is really no different. We provide all the same features that you would expect – the LT plans aren’t hosted on a multi-site installation or limited to web-only access. They come with SFTP & FTPS access and the ability to install nearly any theme or plugin; you have complete access to your account at all times including direct database access. SSH access is the only option that isn’t included by default.

The cost is a little higher upfront, yes, though for the majority of clients, this is a non-issue as they’d rather pay a one-time fee with options to scale over paying a recurring fee for overloaded shared / “unlimited” hosting servers that frequently have issues and support that rushes through the queue without really paying attention to what the client is actually asking or saying. Not to mention the frequent mention of upgrading to a VPS when the client clearly doesn’t need one – they just don’t want to deal with the issue at hand or work with the client :-) .

I can’t tell you how many clients we’ve worked with in the past year that have been told they “need” a VPS, when in reality what they really needed was someone to pay attention and work with them. We’ve moved countless sites that “needed” (according to their provider) a VPS to our servers and when evaluating their resource usage for 2-4 months straight, they’d of overpaid 10-20x for something they’d never use.

With that said, there’s quite a few changes in-store, so what you see now will slowly change over the next few weeks. We’ll be launching new plans, new services, and giving our entire site a revamp. In the mean time, if anyone has any questions, we’re here to help. Shoot us an e-mail at hello@nodeki.com anytime. Open invitation to chat :-) .

  2. Jonathan, you need to get some of that great marketing copy onto your site! :D

Are all your plans using WHM and cpanel?

    • Hey Dan,

The revamp is in the process and should be complete in the next 1-2 weeks if all goes well :-) .

All current plans do include cPanel, though we don’t use Apache (instead, we use Litespeed). We do customized plans on-request as well, so feel free to shoot me an e-mail anytime. I’d be more than happy to go over your needs and create custom plan: hello@nodeki.com

      Thanks for replying!
